About me

I guess I should start my blogging by explaining exactly who and what I am. I'm a retired sailor who spent 21 years in the U.S. Navy proudly serving my country. I was in Vietnam stationed at Camp Tien Shaw for a year - I wasn't lucky enough to get a John Kerry three month tour of duty. I live in Jefferson County Georgia with my wife and I have two sons who both proudly served their country in Iraq with the Georgia National Guard. I believe that every American has the right to bear arms. I believe every American has the right to free speech, even if you are John Kerry calling our troops in Iraq terrorist. I believe that every American has the right to freedom of religion regardless of which religion he or she chooses to practise. I believe that every American should have equal rights and opportunties without regard to race; I am married to a filipino, so this one is especially important to me. I also strongly believe that all Americans in uniform are heroes. The one thing I don't believe in are Bush hating liberals who are endangering our troops in Iraq by doing everything within their power to lose the war . The Democrats have worked hard to assist the terrorist and hamper our troops and are, in my opinion, no better than the terrorist who attacked the world trade center on 9-11. I am especially concerned about John Barrow the super liberal congressman from my home district. In the future I'll be posting blogs about mr. barrow and other anti-military democrats who are attempting destroy our way of life. If anyone out there happens onto my blog and wants to comment, please feel free to do so.

Hello, Mr. Morrison.
I read your comments in the News and Farmer this evening, and I applaud your views.

I will offer this, though: I do not believe that the congress (opposite of Progress?) really received a "mandate from the people" this last mid-term election. I believe that the party-related power shift was due to constantly changing demographics, a highly mobile society, and a view of some that the government needs to take care of the people (can you say "socialist republic"?). I also believe that some republicans were not doing their jobs, or perhaps had lost sight of conservative values. This would easily explain the shift in balance.

My dad was US Navy- the Franklin and the Oriskany.

My son-in-law is a US Navy corpsman.
I work with a US Navy SeaBee.

I am proud of what the military has accomplished. I will not, however, state that because my daughter and I have a vested interest in the outcome of this war, that we need to get out at any cost. Too much is at stake, and too few Americans seem to realize that.

IF I am upset with congress, I am even more upset with the news media. I know for a fact that the adage "if it bleeds, it leads" is adhered to. I do not expect that this practice will change, but I do expect this to happen:
The press is publishing the weak agenda of the liberals in this country. They will print anything that portrays America as being in the wrong. If we do exit Iraq and Afghanistan, the press will focus for generations to come on the failures of diplomacy (how can you realistically reason with terrorists?), President Bush's war plan, and the failure of an "exit strategy" (do we plan NOT to win?) and the successful efforts of the liberals to surrender for the reason of saving lives.

The following will be forgotten:
Hillary crying out for the destruction of the WMD's in Iraq,
The full support of congress of the military effort BEFORE the war, and other absolutely nonsensical acts and statements ("I meant that I voted FOR the war before I voted AGAINST the war") by the left and its supporters.

IT is by far easier to call names, state that other people lied, or attempt to undermine the efforts of honorable young men and women than it is to DO THE RIGHT THING!

Please find these remarks respectfully submitted-

Hi, Carl. I commend you for your LTE in The News & Farmer and on your blob. I think a war of words is entirely appropriate. I enjoyed our exchanges at The Wellness Center. We can disagree without animosity. As far as John Barrow goes, he is considered a conservative Democrat. There were 14 Democrats who voted with Republicans againt the Iraq war funding bill. 7 of them (like Maxine Waters) did so because they want all funds cut off. 7 others did so become of the so-called strings attached. Barrow was among those 7 concervative Democrats. I do not doubt that he is triangulating on issues. As a Liberal I haven't been able to get him to vote to cut off funding or to set a date certain to end the debacle in Iraq. He may be personally more liberal than his voting record (perhaps his personal attitudes towards gays is an example) but he is giving Max Burns few wedge issues to drive between him and conservative white southern Democrats. He is also keeping his black base of support happy AFAIK. I look forward to reading more of your stuff. Best wishes and good luck.
